Framed 1800s Hand Tinted English Lithograph Depicting the Caves at Ladram Bay, Devonshire, England, Framed Fine order Art Salvage, This is a beautiful detailed and intricate hand tinted lithograph of the Caves at Ladram Bay in Devonshire.
This is a beautiful, detailed, and intricate hand tinted lithograph of the Caves at Ladram Bay in Devonshire, southwest England. The scene depicts the seaside caves as well as several figures, a small boat, and several baskets, which could be for fish or perhaps oysters. The lithograph is hand tinted and from the early to mid-1800s. The hand tinting is subtle, done with a light touch, and the scene order offers an impressive scale. The engraving was done by W. Finder, and it was drawn by J. D. Harding from a sketch by Jendle. The lithograph is under glass, wired, and ready to hang. The frame measures about 12 3/8" wide and 11 1/4" high and the simple black painted wood frame is 1/2" deep. The sight size of the lithograph measures about 7" by 4 3/4". The lithograph is in good condition and the frame is in fair condition, as the frame shows wear and paint loss on the perimeter.
