I recently discovered the beauty of cork fabric; an environmentally sustainable material that comes in a variety of colors. and feels like pure luxury. The piece I chose for this book is a deep purple color that I lined with a cotton fabric with contrasting stripes of purple, gold and orange. And used the same material, lined with the cork for the tab and snap closure. I used my sewing machine to run two rows of top stitching around the edges of the cover.

The paper is Khadi paper, a handmade cotton rag paper from India. I've used pen, ink , colored pencil and light watercolors on this paper with success. I've torn the pages from large sheets of paper and have left the torn edges without trimming them which suits the paper.

I've hand sewn the binding with a 4 ply waxed linen thread in two colors to compliment the cover materials. The "Spring Flower Binding" is from a tutorial by Ali Manning in the Handmade Book Club.
