The bottle is a house favored by wrens, sparrows and chickadees. It has a hole on the back for hanging on a headed nail or screw and a perch hole on the front. This order bird house measures approximately 3" round by 5 1/4" tall. The opening is approximately 1 1/4 inches. It never needs to be cleaned out. The birds take out the old nesting material and put in new when they make a new nest. These small birdhouses are fashioned after the historic bird bottles from Williamsburg, VA. These clay vessels are originally from the 18th century and were used to attract migrating birds for insect control. This nest should be hung where it is not in direct sunlight.
