This 6-volume edition of Shakespeare's works was created in 1988 by the Quality Paperback Book Club which was (and perhaps still is) a division of the Book of the Month Club. Each volume measures 5.25” by 8.25” and is about two inches order thick. There must be over a thousand pages in each one but the pages are not numbered. Having seen very little actual use, this set is in quite good condition with no marks of any kind.

A NOTE TO THE READER (from the first page)
For each work in this set the editors have provided supplementary material that will help the reader better understand the work as both a play to be performed and a literary work.
In his general Foreword, Joseph Papp brings Shakespeare alive as he has for the audiences at his productions. The reader is also acquainted with the theater in which the plays were originally performed.
More detailed information precedes the text of each work: an Introduction places the work in context and discusses its structure and action, and performance notes give a director's view of the problems presented by the characters and themes of each work as interpreted in previous productions.
Each work is followed by a brief record of what is known about the original publication and performance and an attempt to date them; textual departures from the copy text; and an extensive essay on Shakespeare's sources. There are also suggestions for further reading on each work.
