Original Art Acrylic Painting by South African Artist Nora Lemmon - Piet Mondrian styled with feather

This Acrylic on canvas after the style of Piet Mondrian features a single feather and is entitled Why be Normal. It is the perfect gift for men or gift for women and would be suitable for an office, kitchen or living room decor. It was part of an art challenge with the title Single Feather from the Etsy group of artists from Artists (Painters) with Questions and Answers Team. We have been challenging each other to tackle subject matter that will stretch us and take us out of our normal painting style. I so enjoyed this one . . . . the painting was lying on the table in my home just after I had finished it and my husband walked up to it and tried to remove the feather which he thought had blown onto my wet painting. . . . I was really chuffed with this.

The painting is Acrylic. I created the background in the style and colors of Piet Mondrian. I gathered the feather from a duck or goose (not sure which) on one of the watering holes on the local golf course. A couple of years ago a group of Egyptian Geese took up residence there and since then it has been absolute mayhem on the three watering holes. . . there are ducks, geese and even two swans that arrived from who knows where. All these are lovely to look at but they leave their wet calling cards on the putting greens . . . not great. I promise I never pulled this feather out but one way or another I am really trying to hit a birdie on each of these holes. Duck a l' orange on the menu soon. . . . . Joking!!

I have tried to portray the picture as close in color to the original but battled to get it right . . . The white is a titanium white which in the picture seems to have a bit of a blue hue. . . No matter what I tried I was unable to photograph the colors accurately . The yellow, red and blue have all been painted with transparent colors which have a beautiful depth . . . Have all come up rather flat in the photo . . Much more vibrant in real life. . . . Really feel good colors.
