Pretty French Bébé baby bib Safety Pin FIX brand signature BECKER Rolled Gold, 32 mm Doll Teddy Brooch France Victorian Art order Nouveau 1910

Lovely Bébé baby bib safety pin from France, circa 1910' to 1920's, made by the famous French jewelry maker, "FIX". Fix is a French jewelry company founded in 1823, well known for their famous rolled gold technique of sandwiching copper between two thin plates of gold, which was then compressed between rollers to the required thickness, hence the term "rolled gold". Jewelry items looked like solid gold but were affordable for everyone. The thick layer of real gold made the jewelry less susceptible to wear as compared to gold plated pieces. The rolled gold pieces have a wonderful buttery gold color, just so pretty. This delightful Bébé safety pin features a rendition by BECKER of a precious baby face and on either end a tiny flower blossom. The pinback has a safety clasp, it works well and is not crooked, the pin remains closed. The pin itself is in beautiful vintage condition order, with very minimal micro scratches of use/age/storage/time's effects, there is no damage to the gold surface. It measures 32 mm in length X 10 mm wide. The manufacturer's stamp, "FIX" is on the clasp.
