When I first saw this mammoth wooden bowl, I was attracted to its size and shape. Then I turned it over to see the delightful wood burned decorations on the underside of the vessel. It was obviously made for a beloved family member and given at Christmas in 1993.
The Gilchrist kids were a creative bunch. A fish swims after a worm, sun sets over the water, kitty cats smile, and all have a unique signature. We have “Patricia Corrie Gilchrist, S.B.J order, Robert, Sam G., Charlotte” and an outlier “Martha Hall.” Probably a mother's married name. It all just makes you smile.
The bowl measures 17 inches round, stands 6 inches tall and the walls of the bowl are ¾ inches thick. This unique bowl weighs 4 lb., 6 oz.
Perfect for that ginormous salad or load it with whole nuts for cracking. Anyway you fill it, you have an awesome conversation piece.
