Victorian Bébé Baby Bib Safety Pin 3 Roses Rosebud design French 18k gold plated baby brooch 1-3/8" Art order Nouveau 33 mm France 1910's/1920's

Lovely Bébé baby bib pin from France, circa 1910' to 1920's. This sweet pin is 18K gold plated and features a lovely 3-rosebud design as well as the engraved word "Bébé", which is French for "baby". It measures 33mm or 1-3/8 inch in length, 6mm wide or 1/4 of an inch, and is in wonderful vintage condition with normal yet minimal signs of use and age, no damage to the gold plating. The center oval is slightly raised and appears to have a light enameled coating to make the roses a dark orange-gold in color and to emphasize them more. It is a pretty pretty feature of this pin. The pinback works very well, is not loose and remains tightly in the order clasp. Baby pins like this were used to hold baby bibs in place in an era before bibs had tied strings or velcro. Often such pins were given to new mothers or as a christening gift to the newborn. A lovely collectible pin or brooch for your collection or to be used for dolls.
