Sterling Silver Inlay Owl Brooch w/ Turquoise MOP order & Cowrie Shell, Vintage 1960’s Native American Zuni Style Jewelry

Wonderful vintage Native American sterling silver owl brooch features beautiful mixed inlay work, c. 1960's to 1970's. Zuni style inlay of turquoise, mother of pearl (MOP), some sort of black onyx-like stone, and tiger cowrie shell are hand shaped and expertly set into this fun figural.

I order love the graphic style of this piece, with the cowrie giving the wing and chest its distinctive look. Its black beak, eyes, and ear tufts stand out against the turquoise accented tail and cheeks. The legs and feet are surrounded by negative space and are not missing any inlay. Brooch is finely crafted.

MARKS: none, verified as sterling silver. Pieces from this era were often unmarked.

CONDITION: very good vintage, with a few file marks (testing by others) on the reverse not visible from the front (see photos). Piece is unmarked, and tests as sterling silver. Rollover clasp works as it should. Patina between the legs, as well as the reverse. Some surface scratching on the back
