order A wonderful copy of Guy Newell Boothby's Dr. Nikola, published by D. Appleton and Company in 1896. Bound handsomely with half-bound blue cloth and a wonderful marbled paper. Gilt title and decoration along spin and front cover, binding good, pages very good. Spine title is rubbed and the spine is faded, bumping to corners, chipped on heel of spine. Ex-library. Guy Newell Boothby was a prolific Australian novelist and writer. He was known for his sensational fiction published in variety magazines around the end of the nineteenth century. He lived mainly in England. He is best known for such works as the Dr Nikola series, about an occultist criminal mastermind. Rudyard Kipling was his friend and mentor, and his books were remembered with affection by George Orwell.
