TamTam
This is small tourists version (?) of slit-drum from the island of Ambrym in Vanuatu. It is made of Intsia bijuga ( Pacific teak). Known on Abrym as 'atingting', bigger slit-drums were traditionally used for beating dance rythmns, transmitting messages or summoning villagers to meetings.
The object is darker than in the picture and has sometimes been hit on the forehead. A very unusual and impressive object.

Our items are articles are from early 1900's to 1990's are not new. There is everyday objects and collectibles as well and can have age-typical patina and signs of wear.
Before shipping we do clean them. Minor color deviations compared to image representations are possible and can not be avoided.
