This unusual macabre style art sculpture is a reminder that if you only take a person at face value, you might miss the beauty that hides within. I have used a variety of art styles like surrealism and expressionism in combination with various everyday objects to creak a dark art sculpture designed to catch your attention as well as make a statement.

This sculpture made using a large industrial spool, left as I found it and simply decorated with burgundy Scrabble letters spelling LOOK and a plain brass heart nailed to the center. The arms were up-cycled from a vintage mechanical doll and are mounted to the back of the spool with screws. The head and arms are truly the centerpiece of this sculpture and is what draws your attention. The head is designed to look as if a zipper has been pulled back to reveal what lies underneath the creepy exterior. Inside is a an Assemblage of gears, upcycled from old clocks, and ribbon roses. The mouth of the doll has been covered with realistic looking "wounds" as if stitches have been ripped out. The complex beauty within the head contrasts deeply with the exterior, creating a visually disturbing yet beautiful art piece.

This one of a kind art doll sculpture measures approx 15" tall with a base measuring approx 5 inches. The base is slightly warped due to age so this sculpture doesn't sit perfectly level.

I think it goes without saying for this particular piece, but just incase: This doll is a piece of art, meant for displaying only. It is not meant for children or for playing!

Small items weighing less than 1lb will be shipped via First class and do not come with insurance. Takes 5-7 days.
Larger items weighing more than 1lb will be shipped via Priority mail and comes with insurance for up to $100. Takes 3-5 days.

All vintage items are sold as is, I do not accept returns or offer refunds at this time. I do my best to describe any flaws that may exist but please review photos and descriptions carefully. Different screen settings can alter colors so please double check the description or ask before purchase.

Vintage items may come with bad smells (cigarette smoke, moth balls, old perfumes, Dusty musties etc). While I myself keep a smoke free home, a lot of vintage items come from a time period where most people did smoke in their home. I do use odor absorbers and air purifiers in the rooms where I store my items, but this will not completely rid the smell. Please be aware of any sensitivities you may have when purchasing vintage items.

I pack all of my items with great care to ensure a safe delivery. Once I drop your order off at the post office it is out of my hands. I have zero control over how quickly your package gets to you or in what condition. In the unlikely event an item arrives damaged please be sure to take photos of the shipping container and broken item, you will need these to file a damaged package claim with USPS. I am willing to help anyway I can, but filing the claim is up to the buyer. Items shipped first class do not come with insurance, this will need to be purchased separately for an additional charge.

Some of my items may have sharp edges or points. Please be aware of this and use caution when handling. An Altered State of Mind is not responsible for accidents or injuries.
