Stanwell's “17” shape was designed by Sixten Ivarsson, and his organic roundings and curvatures are evident in this long, slender Billiard. The transition from bowl to shank is well-rounded, providing little cheeking. The shank tapers gently to the tapered mouthpiece for a long and gradual declination to the lip button, and the bowl itself is rounded gently at both heel and rim for an organic aesthetic especially prevalent in mid-century Danish pipemaking.
