This hot pink shawl is an amazing color, managing to be vibrant and cheery without being neon and garish. It is made with Araucania Yarn from Chile, each hank hand dyed and unique. The 75% wool, 25% polyamide gives the shawl warmth and softness, as well as giving the shawl a beautiful shape and drape. Created into a unique shape for a shawl, it is light enough to not be a burden while still offering that woolly warmth.
This shawl measures 20 inches () from neck to bottom and 39 inches () from point to bottom. This makes it small enough to cover your shoulders while not being so bulky or overwhelming. It also allows you to pin the front closed with a broach, tie it up or simply leave it hanging open.
Mum fell in love with the pattern for this shawl as soon as she saw it. It was in a magazine with a multitude of others that she didn't like, but when she saw this one, she had to have it. After a long hunt to find the perfect ball of pink yarn, she settled down to start. A few rows in, she ended up with too many stitches. So she took it out and did it again, with the same results. To those of you who have never knitted lace, let me try to explain to you the agony of taking out a lace shawl. Not only do you have over 100 stitches on your needle that you have spent multiple hours knitting into being, they are also intricate stitches, taking lots of time and effort to remove order. After doing this multiple times and on the verge of giving up, on a whim Mum checked the source of the pattern. And lo and behold there was the corrected pattern! And so this beautiful lace shawl was knit into being after all.
