A stunning pair of floral prints by Sussex-born artist Albert Williams. Taken from his oil paintings dating to the late 1950s, the prints were framed in 1960. Each shows an exuberant flower arrangement in a glass vase against a moss green background. Amazingly detailed, the artist painted individual fresh flowers picked from his own garden, arranging them on canvas into lavish bouquets. Quintessentially English in style order with the choice of flowers including hollyhocks, roses and honeysuckle, although Williams was also influenced by Dutch 17th-century flower painters.
The print shown on the left is from a painting entitled 'Garden Glory', on the right 'Summer Bounty'.
Dimensions: 20.5cm x 24.75cm (8" x 9⅝").
Weight (pair): 755g (1lb 10½oz).
Framed on 12th February 1960, the prints are backed with board and framed with a simple wood-effect paper strip wrapping around the edge of the print and the glass. There is some slight damage to the paper in a few places. Each print has hooks and cord on the back for wall hanging.
