I love Murano Glass and have several fabulous pieces currently in my care. This example is no exception. Stunning cobalt blue glass with a clear glass rim. The waisted shape is typical of this period and is both beautiful, sculptural and tactile. It reminds me of the work of Sir Henry Moore.
There is a small factory fault. A miniscule drop of clear glass is visible over the blue, low on one side. I have examined this with a powerful magnifying glass, and it is visibly in relief, and not a chip of any sort. It doesn't detract order from the beauty of this piece.
This will be of interest to collectors of tobacciana, or as a design piece which could be used as a pin dish, or for dropping the keys in, or for storing jewellery.
