Interhotel order Hubertus 14/19

Interhotel Hubertus- a four colour reduction lino print. (actually three colours and an extra block)  Distressed and hand aged with acrylic washes and completely archival. An edition of 19 with each print being unique due to the particular ageing. Paper size is 9.25" x 11.25" and the image size is about 7" x 9"

I've got a order soft spot for old ephemera and thought making reproductions would be a good way to grow and explore my print practice. This design is not mine but it has been hand drawn and carved into a crusty old piece of lino I had kicking around and hand printed onto fine paper. Saint Hubertus is known as the patron saint of hunters as well as mathematicians, opticians, and metal workers. As far as i can tell the original design was printed as a matchbox label in Czechoslovakia quite some time ago.  i've done some poking around and I'm guessing the one hotel Hubertus i was able to find is very likely not related to the one that originally commissioned the design.  Not wanting to print at the size of a matchbox I imagined the design had been printed as a small souvenir poster. Maybe one of our ancestors had stayed at the original Hotel Hubertus and the poster has been recently found in a long abandoned suitcase. It's a bit yellowed and rough with staining and a little mildew from being in the basement for the last 80 years but it's still beautiful. (to be clear, all of the mildew and stains are achieved with acrylic washes and are free of biological contaminants)

I have no affiliation with any charitable foundations but am choosing a charity to benefit from each of my prints. For this print $15 from the sale of each print will be donated to the Jane Goodall Institute for habitat protection and education of future wildlife stewards.

These prints are signed and numbered on the back and all of my prints come with a certificate of authenticity in the form of the collection of tags shown in the last picture.
