Product code: Unique Winter Woods artists' ink gift set, 6 natural vegan inks and A7 watercolour sketchbook, order drawing gift set, painting gift set, eco gift

A beautiful one of a kind natural art gift set in an adorable vintage toffee tin.

This beautiful unique gift set contains everything you need to start exploring botanical inks, including 6 handmade natural, vegan inks from the Winter Woods collection, an A7 sized watercolour sketchbook, a glass dip pen and brush. A one of a kind gift for an eco-conscious artist, or a perfect travel set for sketching, art journaling or painting.

These botanical inks are handmade in tiny batches from responsibly foraged seasonal plant materials and carefully processed to coax out their colours. The inks are beautiful when used individually, or mixing shades together creates a beautiful range of unique tones and textures. This gift set includes:

* A vintage toffee tin containing 6 10ml screw-cap vials of handcrafted botanical inks

* An A7 portrait format cork bark covered sketchbook with order 40 pages (ie 80 useable sides of) high quality 300gsm 100% cotton Fabriano Artistico watercolour paper. Page size is approximately 74 x105 mm, and the overall size of the closed sketchbook is approximately 85 x 120mm

* A metal binder clip to hold the sketchbook open

* a glass dip pen

* a twig pencil

* a dropper to decant the inks

All nestled in a sturdy gift box. I'm always happy to include a hand-written gift tag on request, and I offer a gift-wrapping service for that extra special touch.

Inks included in this set are:

* Hawthorn Maroon - a magical sanguine russet made from foraged berries
*Privet Berry Blue - a wonderful vibrant azure blue made from feral privet berries. This ink is sensitive to pH so the shade may vary considerably depending on the paper surface used.
*Elderberry Purple-grey - a soft, gentle violet ink made from wild elderberries. This ink goes down purple, but settles to beautiful shades of slatey blue-grey as it dries and oxidized. It is pH sensitive, so the colour can vary considerably depending on the paper surface used. Lovely for painting winter skies, water and shadows.
*Pine Cone - a beautiful soft salmon pink/taupe shade extracted from freshly gathered pine cones. Lovely for painting plumage, sunsets and flesh tones.
*Chestnut Husk - a wonderful rich,.multi-toned warm espresso brown made from slowly fermented sweet Chestnut husks. Wonderful for bark, fur, landscapes and sketching.
* Iron Chestnut - a deep, granulating grey-brown similar to burnt umder. Made from fermented chestnut husks blended with rust water made from found items.

Please note, the vintage tin may have been in use for many years before being upcycled so it has it's own patina, marks and scrapes! I think this adds to the unique charm, but please see my other listings for gift sets in new tins.

All of my inks and paints are carefully handmade in tiny batches for use in my own nature journal and art practice. Part of the charm and character of natural inks is that every batch is different depending on the season, growing conditions and the soil plants have grown in, so no two batches are ever quite the same. The colour and consistency of natural inks can also change over time, and can also vary depending on the paper surface used.

A selection these inks are also available as larger individual 30ml or 10ml sizes in my other listings. I also offer a wide range of individual sketchbooks and journals in many sizes, cover and paper options.

Please shake natural inks well before use, and decant a small amount into an inkwell, dish or bottle cap to draw. You can adjust the flow of the ink to suit your own style by diluting with a drop or two of water, or thicken by adding extra Gum Arabic, or simply allowing some of the liquid to evaporate from the well before use.

It's recommended to keep them out of direct sunlight and in a cool dark place - ideally refrigerated. It's recommended that artworks made with botanical inks are kept out of direct sunlight, or treated with a fixative spray such as Spectrafix.
