Tapa cloth is a traditional handicraft and art form from the Polynesian Islands. Tapa is made exclusively from the under bark of the paper mulberry tree, which is then beaten into thin sheets on a hard wood log with a tapa beater. The beat of the tapa beaters and the songs that they sing is still fascinating to listen to.
