Antique/Vintage Books:

Please note that I buy and sell antique and vintage books based on their decorative and/or subjective appeal to me and not because I think they might be of value to a book collector. I try to price my items in accordance with other Etsy sellers and based upon what my research indicates. I also try to photograph and describe the condition of the books as accurately as possible, but I am by no means an expert! I use the following terms:

Fading - describes the loss of color on the pages, dust jacket or the cover of the book, which is usually caused by time or exposure to sunlight.
Foxing - refers to the patchy brownish-yellow spots that discolour plates and pages of a book. It is usually the result of a lack of ventilation and/or chemical reactions between the paper and microorganisms.
Fraying - refers to the unraveling of the threads or fibers of an edge of a book cover.
Yellowing – refers to general discolouration.

I do my best to disclose any major flaws in the books I sell, but it is not possible for me to list every imperfection. Please contact me if you require further information about a book before you purchase it. Thanks for your interest!

Vintage/Antique Items:

Please note that most vintage/antique items may have minor wear due to their age and being loved, which we believe only adds to the charm and patina of these pieces. Because most of the items sold in our shop are vintage or antique, there are often small condition issues, which we do our best to accurately disclose and photograph in the listings. Please contact Vintage by Lafontaine should you have any questions or concerns.

While we try very hard to describe our items accurately, it is possible that the eye of a true collector might see something that we do not. If you are particular about your vintage items, please ask questions before you buy. We really want you to be happy with your item and have confidence in your purchase.

Also, camera flash/lighting/different computer/phone screens may change the color of an item slightly. If you are unsure, please ask for clarification before purchasing.

Shipping Policy:

• We generally ship items within 1 business day of receiving your order (excluding weekends or postal holidays). We will let you know if there will be an unusual delay, but we will always do our best to process your order quickly and efficiently. Vintage by Lafontaine cannot, however, be held responsible for postal delays.

VintageByLafontaine offers free shipping on most items, which will be packed with care and shipped using the least expensive method available. This usually does not include tracking or a guaranteed delivery date. However, there are a number of shipping options available for an additional fee. When you put an item in your cart, there should be upgraded shipping options available to you, but if you are having trouble upgrading to a faster shipping service or require tracking etc., please message VintageByLafontaine – we're happy to help.

• It is our priority that your purchase arrives exactly as advertised, so we are very diligent with packaging. Due to the varied nature of our items, packaging is handled on a case by case basis and, whenever possible, we use recycled materials. All of our packing peanuts are bio-degradable and dissolve in water.

We are not responsible for delivery mistakes made by the postal service. Customers looking for restitution for lost items are encouraged to contact their local post office.

Returns/Cancellations:
• If for any reason, you are not satisfied with your item, you may return it for a full refund of the ITEM cost. However, there is a 30% restocking fee on each item to cover our initial shipping costs. All return shipping fees are the responsibility of the customer.

• VintageByLafontaine does not accept cancellations after an item has been shipped.

• Should you have a concern with your item, please contact VintageByLafontaine within 48 hours of receiving it as returns must be authorized before they can be shipped back to us. Items that are returned without this pre-approval cannot be refunded.
• Approved items must be returned in their original condition within 30 days and a refund will only be issued, via Etsy, after the item has been received at our office. If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value. Please retain/return in the original packaging materials.
