The fancy mushroom design speaks to mushroom lovers, fungiphiles, mycologists, microbiologists, and many more. Remember the giant mushrooms in Journey to the Center of the Earth?
W337 / W333 / W334 are Curly Cherry with inlaid stylized mushroom of birch and maple, with abalone spots. Curly Cherry isn't easy to find and is quite beautiful. Length is approximately 10.25".
W79 is American Black Walnut with inlaid stylized maple mushroom, with abalone spots. Length is approximately 10".
W556 is Quarter-sawn Sycamore, an uncommon wood with beautiful natural colors and fascinating grain pattern. The inlay fancy mushroom is Cherry, with Mother of Pearl dots. Rails are Red Oak, matching coloration scheme with the Sycamore grain markings. (All colors are 100% natural!) Length is approximately 10.5".
W2225 is Sonoran Mesquite with maple inlaid stylized mushrooms with abalone spots. Rails are mahogany for matching color scheme (one of the few places we sometimes use non-American woods). Length is approximately 10.25". See notes on mesquite below.
W75 is Curly Maple, with Cherry mushroom and mother of pearl dots. Note W75 is extra long (XL) at approximately 12.25". It's a trade-off: extra length has more room for tools, but takes up more desk space too.
I've had factory produced tool organizers in the past. They all lacked personal touch, quality materials, and design for use. And who knows what they were made of and by whom and where? After lots of trial and error, this is the design on my workbenches. All American hardwoods, hand selected, and finished with NO stains or unnatural colors. Just the real, quality wood grain showing through. Multiple coats of hand rubbed oil and polyurethane finish.
These are hand made in Tucson, Arizona, USA and shipped direct to your workbench from the beautiful High Sonoran Desert. Each of our fine tool caddies is unique and has a unique serial number. You are not buying one, "like it," you are buying the specific serial numbered item pictured. This way you can see the actual wood, grain, and inlays of each unique, hand made piece.
General Dimensions: Approximately 6 inches tall and 5.5 inches wide. Top two bigger holes are .375 inch diameter (for standard size screwdrivers and similar) and six front holes are .25 (smaller screwdrivers, files, picks, etc.). Lengths vary, see individual serial numbers.
Please note: Hand made and unique wood items may have minor flaws. In addition, we don't buy wood because it is plain. We buy it because it is interesting, unique, and shows off its natural beauty.

Notes on Mesquite: It is an incredibly dense, strong, and stable wood, not found outside the difficult environment of the desert. However, it is beautiful. Inclusions or even cracks will not spread after the wood is kiln dried. Artists like the inclusions, as they are opportunities to show something off. Many fill them with abalone chips, turquoise powder, metal powders, colored epoxies, or other. We like to use Sonoran turquoise :-) Unfortunately, mesquite is so tough that it is rough on tools and dulls equipment quickly. Long straight pieces are rare, as the tree is a scraggly desert dweller: the wood burns HOT and long and is a favorite for cooking steaks and smoking other foods around these parts.
