The monument to Steregushchy is a monument to the heroic death of the
destroyer Steregushchiy in battle of the Russo-Japanese War. The only
St. Petersburg monument in the Art Nouveau style and the last, built
before the revolution 1917.
It was opened on April 26, 1911 in the presence of Emperor Nicholas
II, in the Alexander Park
the project of the sculptor KV Izenberg and the architect A. I. von Gauguin
The monument depicts a part of the hull of the ship and two sailors,
as according to information, it was V.Novikov and I. Bukharev that the
ship was sunk that it did not go to the enemy.
