A word about Pewter:

In the past, pewter contained a considerable amount of lead, but no longer. Modern pewter is an alloy of Tin, Antimony,and/or Bismuth and Copper. Lead Free Pewter is non-toxic and is often used in high-end cookware and dinnerware.
Pewter can be polished to a bright sheen, but over time, it develops a rich grey patina. The patina order is caused by the metals reacting with oxygen, and other elements in our atmosphere. This is a natural process that adds to the beauty of the piece. Our pieces are usually polished, at least partially, but you can expect the attractive oxidation to appear gradually. The pieces can be polished again, but repeated polishing will remove trace amounts of the metal, dulling detail a little each time. Pewter is slightly heavier than silver, and is often used as a substitute for the more expensive metal. The natural heaviness adds a satisfying heft to jewelry without harming the affordability of finely crafted, wearable sculpture.
