Hailing from a mindspinning variety of original sources, authentic sea glass comes in every color of the rainbow and each shade in between, manifesting in an astonishing array of configurations and forms, some of which are far less common than others. And while all genuine purple sea glass is quite rare, specimens that tumble ashore on England's famous Seaham Beach -- where vibrant order and multicolor surf treasures are something of a signature -- are exceptionally uncommon, yet scarcer still are uranium-infused treasures from the tides. A curious element, neodymium was often employed during the original glass-making process to maximize its stunning dichroic qualities, neodymium behaves differently when exposed to natural and fleurosecent light, altering its hue accordingly. Given these facts, the stunning surf treasure used to create this handmade necklace is triply uncommon! Smoothed, majestically frosted and shaped into a chunky teardrop (measuring a bit more than three-quarters-inch tall and one-half-inch wide) only by time, the surf, sand and salt, this exquisite ocean gem has been upcycled into a unique choker necklace. Handcrafted with a focus on highlighting the innate beauty of the glass, which can appear mauve-pink or purple and features intriguing ridges, a sterling silver twist ring, sterling petal-detailed eye pin and a powerful clear epoxy secure the bauble to an elegant, handmade 14-inch rolo chain with a spring-ring closure for a total length of 15 inches. An additional two-inch-long cable chain finished with a .925 sterling oval tag makes adjusting the choker length to 16 inches a breeze (contact us for a longer extender). Created after decades or centuries of tumbling across craggy ocean floors, no two pieces of genuine sea glass are exactly alike. Since each piece is very literally unique, I can't help but think of sea glass as snowflakes of the salty seas!
