A beautiful, old, hand made Batik from Solo in Central Java. Tulis is the Indonesian word used to describe a batik that is totally handmade by "kanting" (pouring) the wax onto the material. It is not made by stamp or by mechanically printing onto the material. This is the traditional and most labour intensive way of making a batik.

From the old batik centre of Solo in Central Java, this one has a brown background with a traditional patchwork motif in beige, black, cream and purple. It is in very good condition on good soft cotton. It is signed Product Inskadartex Solo

A Kain is a piece of material about 2 or a bit more metres order in length. This one is 104cm high by 212cm long.
