The Charlie B Gallery of Carson City, Nevada is offering this trough shaped bowl form for sale. order From Vasefinder's "Mimi Patrick, The Natural": Mimi Patrick was born and reared in Nevada. Mimi is a graduate of Reno High and the University of Nevada Reno, where she majored in French. In 1971, she decided to take her first ceramics class, which was an adult education course taught at Wooster High School. This course was her way of taking a small break from motherhood. After Mimi finished this course, she immediately took her second. Shortly after completing the second course, she made a trip to Berkeley, California, where she purchased her first kick wheel, which had a massive concrete flywheel. She was hooked.
In the mid 1970's, she joined the very important Nevada Clay Arts Guild, which was founded by John and Susan Karrasch. It was clear to me at this point of the interview, Mimi's passion of throwing pots became more than just a passing fad, but a commitment to be a full-time potter. This group of approximately 30 members attended workshops held by very important artists, such as Otto and Vivika Heino, Ralph Bacerra, Mineo Mizuno and Jun Kaneko to just mention a few. The Guild also provided an avenue to sell art through their shows.
This trough shaped bowl is signed with distinctive Mimi in script. I do not detect and post-studio damage, such as chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. The form offers a nice ring when tapped. All fragile merchandise is shipped using the "double box" process.
