A carcanet is a jeweled collar or necklace, from the old French, carcan, meaning collar. Carcanets were typically quite elaborate and formal, worn closely fitted order to the neck. The style seems to have first appeared with the reemergence of the necklace during the end of the medieval period in the late 1300s. Carcanets reached their height of popularity during the Elizabethan era before falling out of favor when simpler and more minimalist clothing and jewelry became the fashion by the end of the sixteenth century.

I used the idea of a carcanet and added a butt load of magickal properties to it! It was crafted for Full Moons rituals, equinoxes, and Pagan holidays.

This particular piece focuses on the blossoming Spring and the magick of Persephone. This witch is one who works closely with bees and dragonflies, the flittering pollen and dandelion fuzz, and trees and flowers. This witch represents new beginnings and new life.

This antique silver piece features a large (145mm) patterned collar with 16 inches of chain. Together they bring the necklace to about 22 inches long. Hanging from the collar are antique silver leaves, large pomegranate, amethyst, and green aventurines crystals.
