A fantastic Victorian picture frame with an antique photograph from Hamilton, Bermuda. The wooden frame has an ornate gilded covering which has plenty of losses along the top edge as shown. Under the glass is a dark red velvet inner frame and a gilt inset. The sepia toned photograph shows two bearded men, both wearing hats, in horse drawn carts on a lane lined with tall palms. When you look closer you can see three children, a dog and a woman wearing white.
I recently took the frame apart to clean it and treat for woodworm. I wasn't able to remove the velvet part of the frame for fear of damage and there are still a few specks order under the glass. On the back of the photograph are the words 'F I Richardson, Photographer, Hamilton, BLA.' Bermuda is a British overseas island territory close to the Caribbean.
The measurements given are for the actual frame size but the aperture, within the gilt inset is 17.5x22.5.
