Excellent vintage condition black Homburg hat by Herbert Johnson. 1950s era. Size 7. order Retail: $250 Herbert Johnson is the hatter in England where Spielberg got the original hat for Indiana Jones, which began as Herbert Johnson's "Poet" model and then was modified. A homburg is a semi-formal hat of fur felt, characterized by a single dent running down the centre of the crown (called a "gutter crown"), a wide silk grosgrain hatband ribbon, a flat brim shaped in a "pencil cur'", and a ribbon-bound trim about the edge of the brim. This particular hat comes in rich black with satin lining and a brown sweatband. Traditionally semi-formal but now just a really cool, stylish hat for any occasion. A style made famous by Sir Winston Churchill, as well as King Edward the VIl, and possibly by you. Comes from a smoke and pet-free home. Reasonable offers encouraged.
