Scarf is hand knit in bold jewel tones of 70% merino wool and 30% silk. Truly one of a kind, this scarf can never be replicated, due to its unique colors and construction.
Knit lengthwise in the linen stitch, the fabric looks more woven than knitted. The scarf measures 56" in length, with an additional 8" of fringe on order each end. The width is 4.75". The linen stitch produces a substantial fabric that, in this gorgeous merino and silk, is soft, durable, warm and has a slight sheen.
As a fiber addict, I can never part with even the smallest amount of yarn remaining from completed projects! I became intrigued with the "recipe" for this scarf, which incorporates lengths of fiber which are too short for complete projects, yet too precious to toss.
What fun I had upon casting on! With my basket of colorful fiber next to me, I selected colors at random. It was absolutely fascinating watching the fabric emerge and color combinations form. As I found myself knitting with bold jewel tones, I elected to separate each with a thin column of black; I love the result!
The fringe was also a revelation! Normally, it is added after completion. This recipe, instead, allows for creating fringe in each color while knitting: genius!
All of the fiber used in this scarf requires hand washing and air drying. Care instructions will be included.
