Stars and Roses Bag

Starting with this pretty collection of cotton fabrics I gathered together, I cut and order pieced them onto soft, cotton batting. I then stitched over them with rows and rows of straight stitching. I used Sashiko stitching with navy and red threads on the front, back and bottom of the bag.

I added a pocket to the front for sunglasses or other items.

The matching lining of flowers and roses print has two large slip pockets, one large one in the front of the lining and one large slip pocket with three compartments on the lining back.

The closure is a magnetic snap.

All seams are double sewn for strength. The bag has interlinings and is sturdy, and can stand upright alone.
The padded top straps are matching navy blue and topstitched with several rows of straight stitches, and with Sashiko stitching added to match the bag.

Straps are 13-1/2" from top of shoulder each to top of the bag
