Rare Victorian 1893/1894 German Lace Samples, order 41 Pieces Antique Lace/Crochet, Textile History Samples, Exquisite Collectible Lace.

order Here on offer is a stunning collection of antique German lace/crochet samples from 1893/1894. These could either be from a salesman's sample book or possibly students learning the trade or just a historical study of lace? The two labels with beautifully scripted names are a bit difficult to decipher, but they both have the late 1800's dates clearly marked. The samples have been sewn onto thin card which is showing great signs of age, this whole ensemble is very delicate, although the actual lace is holding up well. The detail in these individual samples is just extrodinary and stunning. This ensemble was bought in Munich, Germany, so that could well be where they hail from originally.

The condition of the actual lace is discoloured and in a few places actually stained, one of the larger pieces has come loose and two of the 'pages' have lace sewn onto both sides, but all in all, considering the 127 years of age, they have survived relatively well. In total there are 41 samples.

As a study of historical textiles, this little collection is quite important and would make a wonderful display in a textile college or fashion house and would make an invaluable reference for lace makers in general.
