Doll's reproduction order Bonnet Cap

Provide your doll in period clothing with a crowning touch: a handmade "bonnet cap" carefully reproduced in miniature from a pattern in the 1840s housekeeping manual, A Workwoman's Guide.
Made from 100% cotton semi-sheer barred muslin, trimmed with narrow cotton edging lace, and finished with narrow rayon and silk ribbons, it captures the classic appearance of the respectably dressed woman of the mid 19th century.
Day caps were still quite popular during this period and a profusion of patterns were found in lady's magazines and books such as the Workwoman's Guide. This style features an ingenious flexibility of size, controlled by ribbons drawn in channels from the neck to top of head, at the center back, and in a casing around the neck. By loosening or tightening any or all of them before tying the decorative bows, a wide variety of head sizes could be accommodated. As laid out in the pattern, all the ribbons could be removed, rendering the bonnet completely flat for convenient pressing after washing.
The doll models shown in the photos are 12-15" tall and have various sizes of heads, the largest being Enid (with a wooden head). As a fitting reference, Enid's head is about 7" around, measured order at forehead level and approximately 7.5 from her chin, up over the top of her head, and back to her chin. The other models are our approx 1/5 size doll who have mohair wigs on smaller heads. Of course, you are welcome to return any unused cap that doesn't fit your doll.
