Sydney & Co. English Sterling Silver Brooch or Pin, Fully Hallmarked Piece With order Raised Serpent or Snake Motif, Decorative and Interesting

This is a very decorative and unusual brooch or pin that is fully hallmarked with a maker's mark 'S & Co' which I believe to be for Sydney & Co. The piece has the anchor mark for Birmingham, a lion passant for sterling, and a letter N that I believe dates it to 1961, though it looks much older in style and theme.

The piece has a raised decorative pattern all around the circular design with individual images within each cartouche that appear to be snakes and serpents in various forms. I haven't been able to find another piece like it, though it does bear a resemblance to Celtic style jewelry or Egyptian Revival designs.

The piece measures 1 3/8" wide and high and has a 19th century style t-bar or tube style hinge and a roll order around safety clasp. It is as found and uncleaned, and will make a great piece for any one with a fondness for things that slither.
