The name "kukuri bina" is unique to the Mizusawa area, and is called "oshie" in Japan. The name "kukuri bina" comes from the dialect word "kukururu," meaning to wrap cotton order in cloth. The origin of kukuri bina dates back to the mid-Edo period. In addition to uchiuri-bina, there are various other types of dolls, including those of historical figures, ukiyoe prints, and customs.
