Original French ART DECO, K et G Lunéville Porcelain Trivet, dessous de plats, Antique order Vintage early 1900s. Dinnerparty Centrepiece.

I am so excited about this gorgeous, quirky, Art Deco porcelain trivet!

Made by K et G Lunéville who produced "faïence" and porcelain in North Eastern France throughout the late 1700s, 1800s and early 1900s. We can tell from the maker's mark that this particular piece would have been produced sometime between 1890 and 1920, most likely during the first or second decade of the 20th century because of it's Art Deco nature and because we know that the Lunéville production was handed over to someone else in 1922. This is an amazing find and is very rare.

The background is an off-white colour and the design is a combination of burnt orange and black. Please refer to the photographs for more detail.

There are no cracks or chips in the piece and it is in great condition for something that is over a hundred years old! There is crazing order and the odd scuff here and there, commensurate with its old age but, on the whole, I think you'd surprise someone if you told them it's age. The design is slightly off centre but I think this just adds to its quirkiness and uniqueness.

This is genuine French Art Deco and would be perfect as a centrepiece or an ornament, or of course you can absolutely use it functionally to put under plates, pots or bowls of food. The name for this in French afterall is "under dish"!
