Product code: WEGE TENN Pewter Scallop Shell Necklace, MCM Modernist Style, Vintage order 1950s - 1970s

Here's a fabulous MCM Modernist necklace by Wege Tenn, a row of 10 beautifully crafted scallop shells cast in pewter with fine chains at either end and a spring ring clasp. This dates from the 1960s - 1970s era, but probably later rather than earlier.

This necklace measures 42.5cms (16 3/4") with a spring ring clasp. The shells seems to be made of pewter, and measures 2cms (3/4") in diameter. Every single shell is signed 'Wege Tenn' on the reverse. Its condition is excellent considering it's nigh on 50 years old - there are no faults as far as I can see !!

This is a fab and funky piece of 1960s - 1970s jewellery and would make a great addition to your vintage 60s/70s collection. Wear this with anything - the dull grey silver will look good with a more dressy outfit or casual styles equally well.

WEGE TENN
There's really not much information I can find on this Swedish brand. I do know they were in operation around the 1950s - 1980s and were one of the leading brands for Modernist Scandinavian design, order and had several designers who created works for their label, the most famous being probably Knut Eric Wallberg, a big name in pewter jewellery design. I have no idea if this is one of his or not, as it is only signed with the Wege Tenn name, and there are no other marks, and no dating info.
