This listing is for an extremely rare antique Wedgwood Jasperware silver and copper overlay or dipped pitcher or creamer. This lovely little ceramic pitcher was dipped in silver and then in copper. Some of the copper been worn away and the silver shows through. The interior of the pitcher is glazed white. It stands just under 4 inches in height and is approximately 3-3/4 inches long from handle to spout with the base measuring 2-1/2 inches in diameter. The bottom is marked "WEDGWOOD" with the number "48" and the letter "D" and what looks like a "Z". It does not have the "England" or "Made in England" markings which date the piece prior to 1891 when the McKinley Tariff Act required all imports into the United States to be marked with the country of origin. The pitcher/creamer is in very good used vintage condition consistent with age and use with no crazing or chips or restorations. There is one stress line that can be seen in the interior but it does not carry through to the exterior (see photo). This is a rare piece of order Wedgwood pottery that would be a fantastic addition to your collection.
