Austrian Bread order Bowl - Hand Carved Design on Edge - Gmunden, Austria, Flowers, Leaves - 13 Inches Across - Antique

order Found this wonderful Austrian bread bowl with hand carved designs on the edge in Munich, Germany in the 1960's.

The carved design reads, GMUNDEN, AUSTRIA and has flowers (edelweiss) and leaves on the sides.

The opening of the bowl is 9 inches across and about 3/4 inches deep. Including the edges the bowl is 13 inches across.

Used at brotzeit or bread time for light evening meals the wood bowl is in very good antique condition. The wood is not cracked or dented........there are, as you can see, discoloration in three places inside the bowl.

It was used with a napkin inside for years which covered the stains, but allowed the edge to show.

This is a wonderful example of Austrian folk art and the craft of a wood carver.

Please look carefully at the photos, although this is a nice piece it is very old and has been used.
