Natural Idocrase loose gemstone pair with a square cushion-shaped cabochon cut (flat back and smooth, convex top). These natural stones, also known as Vesuvianite or Vessonite, have a deep olive green colour. The inclusions are clearly visible to the naked eye but add "character" to these stones and make them quite beautiful and attractive. Perfect for any jewelry making project, and great for unique statement earrings.

Vesuvianite, also known as Idocrase, is named after the Italian volcano Mount Vesuvius, where it was first found and occurs in green, brown, yellow, and exceptionally light blue or lilac colour. It is now mostly found in Kenya, as well as Norway, Pakistan, Sweden, Switzerland, Tanzania, and the United States (in California a green material is usually cut into cabochon order only).
Vesuvianite remains a rare gem for connoisseurs or collectors and is lesser-known by the mainstream jewellery market.
