This listing is for a watercolor artist set: The palette, the cup and the paintbrush holder.

During the pandemic I watched youtube videos to learn to watercolor. It has been a fun journey, and of course I made myself little extras for painting from pottery. They worked out so well for me, that I made some to share in the shop.

One big problem was that I kept absentmindedly picking up my paint water jar to drink from, since I was using canning jars both to wash my brush and to hold drinking water. I wanted to make a brush cleaning cup that I wouldn't confuse with my water cup, so I left the outside bared stained clay and gave it a bottom-heavy shape. Now my fingers know instantly when they reach for the cup that it is for my paints. I don't even have to think about it, really.
This cup is 3.5 inches deep and 5 inches wide , and holds about 1.25 cups water. It is heavy, and glazed white inside. It has the words "Paint Water" carved on the sides, along with a dripping paintbrush. There are indents on the top to hold a brush.

The palette is a freeform one, made just by my fingers pressing and rubbing the clay. The mixing space is not perfectly flat (there are slight finger marks), which I ended up liking. When I use water to make a wash it doesn't spread all over, but stays in the slight finger depressions.

The paint wells are a mix of shapes. I use some liquid colors and some from a tube, and so a mix works nicely. The drops of liquid colors go in the wells, with the colors I use more in the bigger wells and the rarely used colors in the order smaller wells. There are 11 wells.

The palette is about 8 inches long and 6 inches wide. It has a white glaze on top, and is bare clay on the bottom.

The paintbrush holder holds 2 brushes. It is about 1.5 inches long and 1 inch wide and is glazed in white.
The pint canning jar is to help show scale.

This whole set is lead-free, and the clay and glaze are food safe, if for some reason you wanted to use it that way.
