A Journey To The Center Of The Earth by Jules Verne. From The Heritage Club, presented in a black slipcase. Isaac Asimov wrote the introduction, and Edward A Wilson was the illustrator. Wonderful edition, and a great book gift!

"A Journey into the Interior of the Earth is a classic science fiction novel. It was first published in French in 1864, then reissued in 1867 in a revised and expanded edition. Professor Otto Lidenbrock is the tale's central figure, an eccentric German scientist who believes there are volcanic tubes that reach to the order very center of the earth. He, his nephew Axel, and their Icelandic guide Hans rappel into Iceland's celebrated inactive volcano Snæfellsjökull, then contend with many dangers..."

With an introduction by Isaac Asimov and illustrations by Edward A. Wilson.

Very handsome hardcover (red chambray cloth with black leather and gold leaf lettering). Sturdy slipcase. Edges are speckled. 303 pages. Sandglass leaflet is laid in.

In very good vintage condition. Pages are clean. No underlinings or notes. Binding is tight. Former owners address label is the only 'issue' of note in the book. The Slipcase shows some edge wear, as seen in last photo.Absolutely gift-worthy! (Gift-wrap option is available, even if Etsy is now hiding the icon...please look under FAQs.)
