A scarce edition of The Journal of Sir Walter Scott (1825-32), From the Original Manuscript at Abbotsford

New edition, published in 1891 by David Douglas and First Edition Thus

Bound in a blue coloured buckram with gilt tooled titles to spine. Dark brown end papers, a few inscriptions and price clipping to half title and fly pages. Black and white frontispiece portrait illustration of Sir Walter Scott, taken from a portrait by J, Graham Gilbert in 1829. Illustrated title page, one full page illustration plate and a coloured map of Abbotsford from an order 1858 ordnance survey. Rough cut page edges which have been softened over the years and adds to the antique charm of this lovely book

Pages are bright with some foxing around edges and the odd handling mark within. Turning and rubbing to corners, wear and rubbing to edges/hinges of the spine. Light scratching, staining and rubbing to boards. Binding pulled at spine and slanted. There is wear to some of the internal hinges, but boards remain firmly attached of this collectable classic
