Beaded Chakana Incan order Cross, Sun and Moon Beaded Bracelet

The Chakana, Incan/Andean cross is an ancient symbol found throughout Peru and the Andean regions. Like all mystical symbols, there are different beliefs about its origin and meanings. Some beliefs pertain to three worlds (each step on the outer cross), represented by animals. Another belief is that the outlining steps represent 12 for the months of the year. Then there is the belief about the cross itself being the five elements (earth, water, fire, air, ether) and the four directions. You can read more about order the Chakana here. The inspiration behind this order was a customer who came to us with this drawing and requested a custom beaded bracelet. We fell in love with the project and enjoyed investigating and learning about the chakana. As you can see on the bracelet, there are the sun, the earth, and the great mystery/universe depicted. We decided to put this bracelet up in our shop because we truly enjoyed the project and symbol.
