A most wonderful book which accompanies the prayer of the Christian person right through the liturgical year with engravings, order embellishments, garlands of flowers and leaves, prayers, poetry, as well as encouraging and courageous thoughts.
Visually exquisite. The original edition was published in 1837. This undated edition was published after the death of the author and so may be dated later than 1866.
The cover is stamped with gold (but the main black part has some damage see photo 8 please), the edges of the pages are also gilded.
The inside of the cover is of marbled paper bordered with gold motifs.
Practically all the pages are enhanced with engravings, images and complex floral motifs which make the reading of this book an immense joy while also bringing comfort and encouragement
There are 376 pages which are yellowed and in part browned by time.
This book measures 26 x 19,5 x 3 cms or 10,2 x 7,7 x 1,1 inches and weighs 1264 grammes or 2,8 pounds
