French Calor Retro Travel Iron with plaid case, mid century laundry tool with Bakelite handle.

This 1950s French iron is a superb example of a mid century electrical appliance. It has a solid metal base and structure, with burgundy red bakelite handle and fittings. The cord is white and matching burgundy red and has a red French/European plug. The brand 'Calor' can be found in a number of places on the iron.

The case is red and green plaid wool exterior, and is original to the iron. The interior is faux leather, but the strap and closure are real leather.

The iron measures: 15cm (5 3/4 inches) long, 7.5 cm (2 3/4 inches) wide, at its widest and 11 cm (4 inches) high. The cord is 185 cm (73 inches) long.
The case measures: 17cm (6.5 inches) long by 8 cm (3 inches) wide by 12cm (4.5 inches) high.

This is a vintage item from the 1950s. It is in good condition, given it's age, but it does show wear. The case has some patina of age, particularly the interior top of the order case (see picture 4). The iron cord has been taped where it meets the iron (see picture 8 & 9), but the iron is still functional and heats up well. The iron is 220 volts - written on its end.
