An impressive 50th Anniversary collector's edition of Tolkien's classic work. In gold leatherette with red and green stamping. 317 pages, with several full-page color plates, numerous maps and illustrations in yellow and black. Has a matching gold leatherette slipcase. Measures approximately 9 3/4” x 7 3/4” x 1 3/8”.

This book is in really nice condition with only minor flaws, especially considering its age. Main flaw is a faded spine - a common problem with these books - the red foil detail is faded - it's the only part of the book exposed to light when housed inside it's slipcase, so it often experiences fading over time. There is a gift inscription on the inside front cover of the book. No other handwriting. It may have never been read - still nice and tight. The slipcover is still in nice order condition. Printed in the late 1980s for The Book of the Month Club. Vintage item. Sold As Is.
