“Don't Tread On Me” is a warning that reflects the basic principle of individual freedom; that people want to be left alone to live their own lives without outside interference. The rattlesnake on the Gadsden flag, used by the Continental Marines, reflects that in the real world. The Gadsden flag is a historical American flag with a yellow field depicting a rattlesnake coiled and ready to strike. Positioned below the rattlesnake are the words "DONT TREAD ON ME." The flag is named after American general and politician Christopher Gadsden (1724–1805), who designed it in 1775 during the American Revolution. It was used by the Continental Marines as an early motto flag, along with the Moultrie flag. There is not a freedom loving American who would not be proud to use this pen. The finished pen has a bit of heft and provides a substantial writing feel. Features a Parker® style refill for smooth writing performance. Plus, the Antique Brass finish is formulated to simulate the sophisticated sheen of time-worn Brass. The authentic patina and natural darkening brings out the details of the finish and creates a unique feel with a charm all its own. It will add a sense of warmth and history to this handmade creation.
