An Antique Victorian Shield-Shaped Silver Tone and Sterling Silver Signet Ring with order Engraved Design, Circa 1880's

This little ring represents a labor of love and an appreciation for order antique jewelry pieces. It is an antique signet ring with a raised shield-shaped center. The ring arrived is a state of disrepair, missing the bulk of the shank. I've re-shanked it using sterling silver. The ring dates to the 1890's and is made of a low-content silver. The top of the ring is shield-shaped with an engraved "frame" and may have had an engraved initial but in the interest of not destroying the engraving, I've opted to leave the top as I found it. Each side of the shield also has an engraved design. Overall width at the top of the ring is 10.6 mm tapering to 3.2 mm at the back of the shank. It is a US size 8 3/4. Solder seams are visible where the new shank has been attached. I recommend wearing the ring with care as it is on the thin side due to wear during its previous life.

All of my vintage items are all previously worn and loved and so are sold as is. I have a long history in the jewelry industry (since 1993!) and am a certified GIA gemologist. I do my best to accurately describe items and am confident in my ability to assess stones, metal, construction, etc. I use the term "delicate" in many of my listings which I interpret to mean small or dainty. If the ring or item requires extra care when worn, usually I use “fragile” or "wear with care". Most pieces have been lightly polished or cleaned, if possible, unless the process will damage or alter their natural patina. Some items can be altered, some cannot, so please feel free to ask questions, I will answer them as quickly as I can. Please keep in mind that custom-altered pieces are non-returnable.
